Nistarini took her granddaughter Rani to Belur Math before the girl’s marriage and sought blessings from Swami Brahmananda. The swami blessed Rani, touching her head. When they had left he said to Swami Shivananda, “This girl will marry, but family life is not meant for her.” After her wedding she returned from her husband’s home. An unknown fear possessed her. She would cry to the Master in the shrine, “Master, protect my life.” Nistarini again took Rani to Belur Math and said to Swami Brahmananda, “Maharaj, Rani is married but she does not want to go back to her husband.” The swami said: “Your health is not good. Who will take care of the shrine? Henceforth, Rani will serve the Master.” Nistarini then asked him: “If you knew that family life was not meant for her, why did you not tell me beforehand? I would not have spent so much money for her marriage.” “It was in her destiny,” replied Swami Brahmananda. Later he initiated Rani, and she lived like a nun. The Holy Mother, hearing Rani’s story, told her: “My child, this world is a hot frying pan. The Master saved you from it.” (Source: They Lived with God)
